EDWARD CHARBONNIER
SENIOR PRODUCT REVIEWER AND MANAGER
INTERSTATE INSURANCE PRODUCT REGULATION COMMISSION
Edward Charbonnier joined the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission (“Insurance Compact”) as a Product Reviewer on May 17, 2015. The Product Reviewer’s primary responsibility is the review of all products filed with the Insurance Compact, including review for compliance with the Insurance Compact Uniform Standards and all applicable Insurance Compact Operating Procedures.
Prior to joining the Insurance Compact, Edward was Director of Policy Form Review for the Massachusetts Division of Insurance. He managed a team of Examiners responsible for the form and rate review of Life Insurance, Annuity, Property and Casualty, and Individual Health products. During his tenure, the Division moved toward managed competition in Private Passenger Automobile Insurance, mandated the use of SERFF in the filing of rates and forms, and dramatically reduced the turn-around time for submitted filings.
Prior to joining the Massachusetts Division, Edward was employed by Sun Life Financial, working in their New Business, Actuarial, and Project Management areas. He also has experience as a field underwriter at a managing general agency.
Edward is a graduate of Emerson College, receiving the first Bachelor of Arts degree in Writing bestowed by the institution. Edward has earned the CERT, ALMI, AIAA and ACS designations from the Life Management Institute. Edward is a member of the Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals. He is currently co-chair of the SERFF Product Steering Committee.
