COVID-19 Vaccine Questions

This week’s tip is about an update to the Insurance Compact’s COVID-19 Resource Page, specifically pertaining to application questions about COVID-19 vaccines.

The Insurance Compact does not permit forms to contain questions asking if an applicant has signed up for, received any dose of, completed, or is planning to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, regardless of language about advice or treatment by a member of the medical profession. The limited availability of the vaccine under varying state policies creates a concern that the use of information from such questions cannot ensure compliance under the Fairness requirement. § 2B, Fairness, Individual Life Insurance Application Standards.

The Insurance Compact has updated the COVID-19 Resource Page with this information. Please note that this page of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) provides an overview and resource for the purpose of assisting filers in understanding the applicable requirements of the Uniform Standards and the filing process. The FAQ will be updated regularly as events continue to develop.
